If you know, you know, and those of you with grandchildren in the 10–15-year-old range probably know.
6, 7, what does it mean? All three of our grandchildren say it randomly ,"6, 7" they would say it for absolutely no reason. When asked when it means, they say they cannot tell me. In actuality, they don't know either. So, I looked it up and it means absolutely nothing. Kids just like saying it to leave adults confused. In my opinion, they don't need to say a thing to leave adults confused. One time when Lily was here, I said "Lily, 6 7." She was like, "Adults can't say that".
According to The Google the term originated from the 2024 rap song Doot Doot by the rapper Skrilla. I am sure all of you could recite that rap by heart. One of my favorites for sure.
Whatever it means, we were not confused when on last Tuesday at 6:30am Barb received the following text from our youngest granddaughter, "6 7, 6 7, 6 7!" That was Kendall's way to wish Barb a happy birthday! I will not tell you how old she turned, but those numbers may give you a clue.
So, what did I get Barb for her birthday? Being the best husband in the world of husbands I took her to Menards and had her pick out a few woodworking items for her shop; a couple of clamps, some safety glasses, a box of 1 1/4" screws, (7) 6' cedar boards, and wait for it.... a 500-piece bit and drill set! Is she not the luckiest woman in the world?
On her special day we went out to her workshop and made a couple of bird houses using everything above. This was her first project using her new table saw and table.
We figured out a few things that she needs, but the overall project went well resulting in two bluebird houses which we promptly put out. Just in time too as the bluebirds are back!
We then went over to Dan and Bonnie's who we were picking up for supper. Upon arriving we saw balloons at the entrance of their driveway and garage. They had party favors which included silly string, a bubble maker and of course shots of Fireball!

I have thought that perhaps us adults should get together and start a phrase of our own with no meaning. I was thinking 8, 9!
ReplyDeleteThat is genius right there!!!!!
DeleteHappy belated Birthday to Barb! I am sure the Bluebirds are happy with the new birdhouses that Barb made. Cute photos of your dogs, they do look comfy.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all the deer too, welcome home. Have a great day and a happy week ahead.
So far, the bluebirds have not found these new houses, but they are returning to the old ones!
DeleteI am thinking that is not a good number for a sports team.
ReplyDeleteNo, that pretty much sums up the record of my favorite football team!
Delete6 7, 6 7, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARB!! What a nice husband ... I would LOVE a table saw!! LOL. Nice log splitter too!! Woohoo!! Love the bird boxes and they are already occupied. How cool is that!! Don't you just love being home and seeing all the critters???
ReplyDeleteThe occupied ones are ones we put out several years ago. We are still waiting for the birds to find these new ones.
DeleteNice birdhouses Barb and happy belated birthday! The wind has been relentless in our Montana neck of the woods. Our time in AZ is drawing to a close--time to head back to mud season in MT--and wind!--and all those chores that are always waiting.
ReplyDeleteI bet Mike is getting restless thinking about all the projects he has waiting for him back home!
DeleteYou sure know how to spoil a gal Jim, Barb is so lucky! Your birdhouses seem to be a hit with the Bluebirds Barb. Looks like your game farm critters are pretty happy too.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Do I sense a little sarcasm in your comment?!?!?
DeleteLooks like Barb is enjoying her woodshop and new tools. Great job on the bird houses. Ray has been busy in his woodshop finishing up my greenhouse base and planters for Kristi he promised last year. :) Fishing this weekend was a bust lol Ray and Steve fished for about 6 hours and nothing. Oh well the boat is in so he can try again another day once it warms up a bit.
ReplyDeleteBummer about the fishing. My boat is all torn apart right now as I am replacing the floor. Of course, the ice is off one of our favorite lakes and the fish are biting!
DeleteHey I think she is lucky! One year for Christmas I asked Bob for a saw and a hand gun. When I told my co-workers they thought I was crazy.🤪 got one for Christmas and one for my birthday!🎉
ReplyDeleteBoth of those have been presents for her in the past as well!
DeleteHappy Birthday Barb! I sure miss seeing the blue birds in the yard. We had so many back in Georgia. It’s always a nice feeling to pull in the driveway and settle back in at home when we have been away for awhile. I have a feeling Barb will spend many an hour in her workshop.
ReplyDeleteThere are always trade offs when moving to a new area. I miss several things about living in Wisconsin, but love living here as well!
DeleteWelcome Home, Y'all!
ReplyDeleteAnd Happy Birthday, Barb! I have no secret code but we sure hope your day was special. Well, the gifts from the best husband in the world will be hard to beat. We could use your skills down here as our own bluebirds eat our mealy worms but tweet bad words when they discover the yard has no nest boxes.
Spring is turning us green. Hope you can rest up from the road and get some work done.
Perhaps we will have to bring a couple down with us next winter!
DeleteI’m glad Barb had a great birthday! 6-7? More like 4-5! Cute bird houses. Happy we got to see you in AZ!
ReplyDeleteSometimes more like 6 or 7! But you are right about 45, neither of us feel older than that.
DeleteI asked The Google (haha) what the current Gen Z slang "rizz" means since a GenZer complimented(?) my dazzlers using that term. Great plan letting Barb pick out her own gift. Sheds! A lot of cool things can be made with those.
ReplyDeleteYour Dazzlers are totally rizz! at least growing up our slang was short for something. These days it is totally nonsensical.
DeleteOur 6 and 7 year old grandkids say that but they don't know what it means or how to use it. Your birdhouse roofs look different. In one the roof slopes back and the others it slopes forward. Are you using AI again? You spoil Barb with your extravagant gifts. You should be giving her mops and brooms. Oops, did I say that out loud? JK. 6-7.
ReplyDeleteNo AI this week. The houses with the slanted roof I built in maybe '17? They are called Peterson Bluebird houses. The ones Barb built are box houses. She is probably the only woman I know who would probably like kitchen or cleaning items for her birthday!
DeleteTMI. I was just being polite by asking about the birdhouse.
DeleteWe used 3/4" boards dried to 2% moisture, ripped them with a 80 tooth blade and then secured them with 1 1/4" trim screws. Let me know if you would like any more information, I will be happy to provide it.
DeleteHappy Birthday Barb, kids will say the weirdest things haha love the bird houses. Happy new week
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it is kids nowadays or me getting older, but I am much less tolerant of kinds than I used to be.
DeleteBarb, been missing you since you left the county. I'm so glad you are living life in the fullest?
ReplyDeleteShe says she really misses you too!
DeleteHappy Birthday to Barb, whatever age she may be (I'm thinking 39?).
ReplyDelete6 7 is one of my grandson's favorite things to say...to annoy the adults. However, he too will have a grandma of that age soon so I expect I'll hear it even more often.
Nice birdhouses, and the bluebirds are adorable!
I was wondering when I wrote this post how many other have heard of 6 7. Based on the comments, I would say about half of the readers have.
DeleteThere's no place like home! 17 deer? That's amazing. Happy belated birthday to Barb!
ReplyDeleteI will try to get a picture next time there are that many. They can be pretty spread out though so it might be hard to see them all.
DeleteHappy belated Birthday to Barb! Nice workshop I miss my sometimes. You sure do keep busy!
ReplyDeleteWe bought a tool chest and a rolling table for her today, they will both be nice additions to her workshop.
DeleteHappy birthday, Barb. I hope it’s a great year!
ReplyDeleteThe wildlife must be thrilled to have you back. They are even leaving presents!
That's funny, but yes, they are leaving us presents!
DeleteBased on my experience, even children as young as five know 6 7. That's the word for my year, too.
ReplyDeleteYou are the second person to say that this is their 6 7 year!
DeleteHappy birthday!
ReplyDeleteEverytime my grandson said 6,7 I said 8,9. He stopped.
That's hilarious! You are doing to him exactly what he is trying to do to you and it backfired on him.
DeleteHappy belated birthday Barb!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tabetha! I am guessing hockey season is just about over?
Deleteyou are a great husband, i don't give you enough credit!! i am sure she was thrilled with her gifts and had the best birthday ever. it is always good to be home, "i live in an area people love to come on vacation"!! you are right about 6 - 7, it means nothing and it's popularity around here has slowed down. i have heard this is the time of year is a great time to find antlers on the ground!! again...happy birthday barb, you are one in a million, i wish i were more like you. in my heart, i am!!
ReplyDeleteI thought 6 7 was an old thing and no one says it anymore. But, while it has slowed down, kids are still saying it. Custer is a huge tourist town as well. We cannot even go to a restaurant in town during tourist season.
DeleteHappy Belated Birthday to Barb from Tom and I!!
ReplyDeleteIf Barb really likes woodworking, and it sounds like she does, then I have to say you did some spoiling of your own taking her for those Birthday purchases. You are both lucky.
She does. She likes a lot of things, sometimes too many things to focus on any of them, but it beats not being interested in anything!
DeleteHappy belated Birthday, Barb looks as if you had a good one. Love bird shelters.
ReplyDelete6 7, well didn't know about that but I know our younger grandchildren have a language of their own and the 17 nearly 28 year old, told me she is not Woke enough to answer a question I asked her. Nice photos and love your dogs by the way. They really have a wonderful home.
Not woke enough? What does that even mean? 15-17 is probably the most annoying age for children and that is what they are. Even though they think they are 28, they are far from it. They become human again in their late teens/early 20's.
DeleteMy husband has been walking our woods looking for sheds. Of course, when you look, you never find. (wink, wink).
ReplyDeleteWe have our best luck in the open where they feed at night. Even then, finding one or two a year is good success.
DeleteBarb and I have birthdays 1 day apart. It sounds like she loved her gifts, and wow, you have bluebirds already. I taught high school for 36 years and kids always have weird things like that. I don;t remember 6,7 but I do remember the sounds they got to phones to make that adults were not supposed to be able to hear. But I could hear it, and luckily after responding to it a couple of times, it wasn't anything exciting and it stopped in my classroom. :) It looks like its good to be home, and I wish someone would have had a bubble machine going for my birthday. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday!
DeleteWelcome home and happy birthday to Barb!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Rita, hope your eye is better!
DeleteCan't wait to get to Sacramento so I can teach my 3+ year old granddaughter about "Six-Seven" so she can drive her Daddy (my son) crazy with it. (It is called "Pay Back") Nice to be home...almost time to get back to the farm though isn't it???
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Barb!
ReplyDeleteHa! Love that birthday text! I bet your granddaughter couldn't sleep the night before, and also couldn't wait to tell her friends, lol.
ReplyDeleteHappy 67 to Barb! I see you spoiled her properly! How wonderful to have Bluebirds already!!
ReplyDelete67 Yahoo! Love the woodworking projects.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday. The bird houses turned out nice. wow, 17 deer at the same time! I saw about three today coming from the woods and unto my side yard area. The antlers shed are neat. That would be interesting, as I don't see the bucks much, only the females. You live in a pretty area. Happy March!
ReplyDeleteThere are a ton of deer hanging out lately. It is probably a combination of the food and water, we are seriously short of water right now so I think it is more that than the food.
DeleteNice photos. Happy 67 Barb.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteIt IS good to be home after a long trip, isn't it? Happy birthday to Barb! Oh, you are a good husband! Our grands, 7 and 9, kept saying 6-7 all over the holidays. Thing is, we asked them to tell us what it meant and they couldn't. I guess because they didn't know. But it made me wonder, if they accept something so easily without knowing, then spout it off, without knowing, what happens when it DOES mean something and something not good. That's how conspiracy theories evolve. I think I am probably digging way too deeply here!
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty scary, but it doesn't happen with just kids. There are so many adults out there that take what they see on TV or on the internet as gospel without questioning or verifying anything.
DeleteHappy belated birthday to Barb!
ReplyDeleteThe birdhouses look wonderful, I’m sure the bluebirds will enjoy them.
Your dogs look so cozy, and it’s amazing to see all those deer and turkeys around.
Loved the photos.
