Hitting the Ground Running

Did you expect anything less? So much to do, so little time! There are always things to do when you get back from an extended absence. Although Forrest and Somer took good care of the house, Barb went about cleaning it. I don't care how clean it was, unless Barb does it with her own two hands, it is not clean enough. Lily is still living upstairs in the loft; she has made herself quite comfortable up there. We don't mind having her in the house, me specifically, as it gives me someone to blame stuff on like when the last brownie is gone Barb will ask, "Who had the last brownie?". "I think I heard Lily coming downstairs in the middle of the night", I respond while brushing brownie crumbs off my shirt.

We also took the camper off the truck, it is all tucked away in the garage waiting for Barb's remodeling. Remodeling you ask? Yeah, Barb has a long list of things she wants to do to the camper. The biggest thing is to replace the subfloor, replace the linoleum with the left over LVP from the house, remove/replace the valences and recover all the cushions on the dinette. As a matter of fact, she is knee deep in demolition mode with the valences and linoleum removed already.

The boat too is all tucked into the other side of the garage. Forrest and I have been working on getting it ready for fishing. We have done all out pre-fishing rituals, got all our tackle and rods ready and install on new LiveScope, which was a much bigger deal than anticipated as we had to run several sets of wire harnesses throughout the boat.
I now have two Gamin units installed in the back of the boat!
Forrest also broke out his 3D printer and made me a cover for the transducer on the LiveScope. These printers are amazing! The first picture is the printer in action, the second shows the finished product with the printer in the background.
The other thing we spent the week doing was watching YouTube videos. Specifically fishing YouTube videos. It was somewhat melancholy to watch them as I was watching a lot of the videos we published from when we visited Pasha Lake. By far, this is where we created our best fishing memories. I feel joy in my heart remembering all the good times and a pit in my stomach thinking that we will never get to experience at that level again since the new owner took over. Oh, we will make new memories, but I doubt they will be as good as those. Here is a link to one of my favorite videos we made up there.

We are excited to get out on the water, but it looks like the earliest we will get out will be this coming Thursday when the temps get up into the mid 60's. We have a couple of trips planned so far this year; 3 that are on the calendar; one in June, two more in July, plus a couple more that are just in the planning stages.

Now, the boat was not supposed to be in this garage, it was supposed to be in our new garage. The problem is, is that it is not built yet! The plan was to build our new garage before we got the boat, but you know how that goes. Sometimes you put the cart before the horse. We did get the materials for the garage though and we plan on starting to build it later this morning!
Of course we had to get together with the gang. We met Dan, Bonnie, Merrill and Vicki at bingo on Wednesday night. None of us won, but it was great getting together!
The next day we went over to Kevin's neighbor, Greg's, to split and stack his firewood. Dan, Bonnie, Kevin, Barb and I surprised Greg by going over and split/stacked all his firewood. He was not there, and it was a surprise for him. Kevin sent him a picture when we were all done.
He was so pleased that he invited over the next day for happy hour followed by supper that Cheryl had prepared. Of course, I forgot to take any pictures, there was a total of 10 of us there, it was good to see everyone and get together!

Zoey and Dakota are glad to be home. They are loving having so much room to roam around. Zoey zooms around the house bouncing off the furniture, she did not have room to do that in the camper. Dakota is no longer confined to being under the dinette and she has multiple beds from which to choose from.

Now for the moment you have all been waiting for; how many bottles did we bring home? (drum roll).... the final tally was 52! This makes Rita the winner with her guess of 53. What does she win? Bragging rights, that is about it. I thought about giving the winner a bottle of booze, there was one we bought that is absolutely nasty, but I like Rita, and I would not do that to her. I think I will save if for next time Harry stops by and give it him. This brings the total number of bottles in the house to a little over 200. We are done buying for a while, we are starting to have storage problem. Well, unless we find a special bottle that we just have to have!

That's it for last week, it looks like this coming week is going to be even busier!

  2. I can see many happy times and competition to come on that new fishing boat! With 200 bottles of booze you could open up your own tasting room at your gazebo. Cheers!

  3. Bragging rights is fine. I don't drink, anyways--lol!
Barb is really going to town on the remodeling. The 3D printer job is amazing.
Sounds like you've been having some good times with the home group.
    Have a wonderful day! :)

  4. How long does it take to finish off 52 bottles?
Redoing the flooring in the camper looks like a huge undertaking! But I'm sure it'll be done right. Enjoyed watching your fishing video, I'm sure there will be many more to come.

    1. 52 bottles would take years without help. I think a single bottle lasts a month, if I were to guess.

  6. Hello,
Wow, you and Barb have been very busy. I assume you will have a lot of friends helping to build the new garage. Brownies in my house do not last long, you snooze you loose. I can imagine the dogs are happy to by home and able to run free inside and outside. How soon do you plan your next big trip? Take care, have a wonderful week!

    1. Barb and I will do the majority of the work ourselves. We will need help raising the walls and trusses, but beyond that, it will just be the two of us (three with our son).
Our next "big" trip will be just me next month when I go to the farm for planting in a few weeks, then a month-long fishing adventure in July!

  7. Another busy week you all have had. I need some of your energy pills!! lol. Best get busy building that garage so you can get that boat moved out of the way. Of course, it won't be long until it will be on the water each day. just wondering if those 200 bottles are ever opened? congratulations to Rita.. have a great week ahead.

    1. Most of those bottles are open, good question though. There are a lot of people who buy them to collect them and once you open them, their collectability value drops to nothing.

We started the garage yesterday, we should have something to report next week!

  8. Sounds like the hunt for a new camper has become the camper reno - can't wait to see Barb's magic! Glad the new boat is giving you more to keep you busy, we worry you'll just be sittin' around all summer :-) Still can't wrap my head around 3D printing! Lucky that you "know a guy".

    1. Yes, for the time being. Unless the perfect camper drops in our lap we are going to stick with this camper for the next year or so.
3D printing is so cool and fascinating to watch. I am going to try my first solo print later today!

  9. You guys don't know how to just relax!! LOL, I'm sure the new garage for the boat will be yet another fun project. Enjoy your spring, can't wait to hear where your next adventures take you, let us know if you head west any time this summer, we're heading back to the Pacific NW for summer this year.

    1. As of right now, our furthest west adventure will only take us to Wyoming. We are going to explore a few of the lakes over that way.

  10. Instead of Crypto Currency, you all have Liquid Currency going there! And what is with the technical terms such as "LVP" and "transducer"...almost wore out Google looking them up...at least I know what a 3D printer is and what they can do! Also, nice of you to republish that video of Barb kicking your butt in fishing again, I am sure she will now put off for another month or two putting you away into that Urn...

    1. And now you know what LVP is too! Who would a thunk that our blog would ever be educational?!? Those bottles would have retained some value had they not been opened, but we are consumers, not collectors.

  11. 52! Did the truck feel a little top heavy? Good thing you bought the boat because that could share some of the weight burden then. I do recall when you started this trip that my advice was to get a trailer and you did, kind of. Do I win anything for that? Not the skunky booze either.

    1. You are a wise one and did suggest we get a trailer. I leverage that wisdom into getting the new boat. We had to balance out our payload so make sure we did not tip over. What do you win? You win the ability to be granted one wish during your next visit!

  13. There's no place like home, even if it means always being busy.
With that many bottles of Alcohol, you could open a bar.

What fun it will be doing the update on the camper, good luck with that.

  25. So I looks like you thought it over and decided that the present camper will do fine after some personalized refinements. Pulling the new boat with it is probably working out ok and still gives you options where to fish and stay while doing so.
